First Quarter 1995 Status Report, Fire Engine Company No 2, 110 West <br /> Sonora Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr. Escobar- <br /> This Ietter report summarizes the results of the environmental investigation conducted during <br /> the first quarter 1995 by Canonie/Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation (SMTH) at <br /> the subject site (Figure 1) The work was conducted at the request of the City of Stockton, <br /> Department of Public Works (City of Stockton) and included measuring depths to <br /> groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the wells for subjective and laboratory <br /> analyses, and evaluating the groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater flow beneath <br /> the site. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In April 1987, a 1,000-gallon unleaded gasoline tank was removed and residual hydrocarbons <br /> were detected in the soil remaining under the former tank In April 1992, a 250-gallon waste- <br /> oil tank was removed The locations of the former and existing tanks are shown on Figure 2 <br /> In 1988, The City of Stockton contracted RESNA Industries Inc to conduct a subsurface <br /> investigation to assess the extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil The investigation included <br /> drilling seventeen soil borings, installing five groundwater monitoring wells, five vapor <br /> extraction wells, one piezometer, and one recovery well, collecting and analyzing soil and <br /> groundwater samples, monitoring fluid levels in the wells, performing a groundwater aquifer <br /> test, and performing a soil vapor extraction test <br /> GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> On January 26, February 27, and March 23, 1995, a SMTH technician measured the water <br /> levels in wells MW-1 through MW-5, well RW-1, and piezometer PZ-1 No floating product <br /> was noted in any site well Groundwater monitoring data are summarized in Table 1 <br /> 38009 1011 QS R95doc <br /> 1710 Main Street • Escalon,CA 95320 (209)838-3507 • fax (209)838-3509 <br /> Engineering Consulting Remediation • Construction <br />
