Additional proposed work includes drilling five soil
borings, installing one groundwater pumping test well and four vapor-extraction wells, and
conducting a vapor-extraction test The purpose of the work is to obtain field data and
evaluate alternatives for remediating soil and ground water beneath the subject site (site
location shown on Plate 1)
PREVIOUS WORK
In Apnl 1987, a 1,000-gallon gasoline-storage tank was removed from the site. Residual
hydrocarbons were detected in the soil at the base of the tank cavity The former tank
cavity and existing tanks are shown on Plate 2
Our work conducted to date includes drilling eight soil borings, installing four ground-water
monitoring wells, collecting and analyzing soil and water samples for selected hydrocarbons,
evaluating changes in the ground-water elevation and inferred flow direction, and assessing
the geologic conditions beneath the site. The geology is characterized by a sand deposit that
extends vertically from approximately 10 to 30 feet below grade and interfingers laterally
with clay and silt deposits.
'10 38009-sw
i
