The activities described herein were performed <br /> pursuant to a "no further action' letter issued by the RWQCB in April <br /> 1997, and in accordance with procedures outlined in ERM's Proposed <br /> Workplan for Well Abandonment, Union Pacific Railroad Company, Old Tracy <br /> Yard, Tracy, California, dated August 1996. All well abandonment <br /> activities were performed in accordance with applicable San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(San <br /> Joaquin County) well standards. <br /> ERM presents a summary of well abandonment activities below. The site <br /> location map and general site plan showing the locations of the <br /> abandoned wells (MW-1 through MW-6) are presented in the attached <br /> Figures 1 and 2, respectively. Well abandonment details are presented in <br /> the attached Table 1. <br /> SUMMARY OF WELL ABANDONMENT ACTIVITIES <br /> Prior to abandonment, ERM sounded each well to verify, based on <br /> original well logs, that significant silting, bridging, or casing failure had <br /> not occurred. Only one well (MW-1) contained an accumulation of more <br /> than three feet of silt in the casing above total completion depth. The <br />
