The
summary of project status covers all items addressed during our telephone discussion on
September 21, 1995.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Industrial Compliance (IC) has completed two periods of excavation and stockpiling of lead
impacted soil at the Old Tracy Yard site. The first period of excavation/stockpiling began on
July 11, 1995 and continued through July 19, 1995. Analytical results (total lead) from
confirmation samples collected after the first period of excavation indicated that additional
excavation was necessary in several areas. The second period of excavation/stockpiling
began on August 7, 1995 and continued through August 17, 1995. Analytical results (total
lead) from confirmation samples collected after the second period of excavation indicated that
additional excavation was still necessary in some areas of the site. Excavation has not
continued due to the lack of space for stockpiling additional soil on site. There are presently
an estimated 7,650 tons of impacted soil stockpiled on site. The stockpiles are fenced and
covered with visqueen secured by sandbags. The excavation areas are also fenced and the
exposed soil in each area has been covered (sprayed) with a non-toxic material for dust
control.
469-013.ltr/09-28-95/u/kwrigh/keydata/oldtracy/letters
Denver•Phoenix•Kansas City•Dallas•Houston•Los Angeles•Sacramento•Little Rock•Knoxville
A Subsidiary of SP Environmental Systems.Inc. m
arc
