rn) <br /> UST,LUFT LETTER <br /> Page-2 <br /> 'I <br /> Before receiving a PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive <br /> the SWRCB Cleanup Fund Letter of Commitment, you must make application to the <br /> State of California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum <br /> Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package for the <br /> Fund has been provided. <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to; <br /> 1. Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br /> 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of petroleum from USTs; and <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> Claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br /> Applications must be submitted to the SWRCS Cleanup Fuad by March 31, 1994 to <br /> undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year. All subsurface investigations and' remedial actions must be performed <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br /> The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the. removal, repair, retrofit, <br /> or installation of USTs. Should you wish to obtain a low interest loan for <br /> the upgrade of your tank -system, please contact the State of California Trade <br /> and Commerce Agency, UST Loan Program, regarding their loan requirements, at <br /> (916) 445-6733. <br /> If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact L.T.
