The report was dated February 7,2001 and received at PHS/EHD March 27,2001.
The report describes the soil and groundwater investigation at the California State University-Stanislaus
Multi-Campus Regional Center in Stockton,California(site)on December 28 and 29,2000. The results of
the investigation indicate that soil and groundwater have been impacted at the site. CET recommends
installing at least three cone penetrometer borings, three direct-push borings, and three monitoring wells at
the site as well as completing a sensitive receptor survey within a radius of 2,000 feet. PHS/EHD concurs
with these recommendations. These recommendations are in keeping with Appendix A in the"Tri-
Regional Guidelines,"which outlines the steps that should be followed in a soil and groundwater
investigation associated with a leaking underground storage tank.
PHS/EHD personnel are available for a meeting between you and CET personnel if desired by the Trustees
of the California State University,as suggested in the report. Such meetings, while not required, do tend to
move a site along faster than if a meeting is not held. Therefore, you have two options.
Option 1: Arrange for a meeting between you,CET; and PHS/EHD personnel within the
next 30 days,or
Option 2: Submit a work plan within 45 days that explains in detail the next phase of the
investigation,as described in the CET report.
I
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please call Dot Lofstrom at(209)468-3436.
Donna Heran,Director
Environmental Health Services
Dot Lofstrom,R.G. j
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
i
cc: Marty Hartzell,CVRWQCB j
Donald Kresse,CET
fI
I
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services f
