contaminant sources was decontaminated prior to removal from the <br /> site. <br /> Soil residues were placed in a DOT approved 55 gallon drum, labeled <br /> and placed into temporary storage on-site. Liquid residues were <br /> pumped into the tank truck maintained on-site to receive washpad <br /> effluent. <br /> Soil and groundwater samples were analyzed in a California DHS <br /> certified laboratory utilizing EPA approved analytical procedures . <br /> Laboratory certification is presented in the appendix. <br /> Chain of custody was maintained by use of forms as presented in the <br /> Appendix. Minimum detection limits are listed on each sample <br /> report form. <br /> 3. 4 Health & Safety Plan <br /> Activities at the site were conducted to maintain the safety of <br /> workers, employees, military personnel and the public. All <br /> residues generated during the site investigation were handled as <br /> hazardous so as to protect the environment. Specific health and <br /> safety measures implemented include: <br /> Site Manager - The West & Hansen Engineers Project Manager was <br /> designated as Site Manager. He was responsible for designating an <br /> area of exclusion around work sites to prevent unauthorized entry. <br /> He ensured that all personnel granted access to the work site were <br /> aware of safety procedures and was authorized to remove any <br /> individual not adhering to established rules . <br /> The Pro)ect Manager maintained a permanent, bound record of all <br /> work activities . The record was kept on site during all work hours <br /> and was available to authorized inspection personnel on request. <br /> Each individual with access to the work site had available: <br /> • hard hat <br /> • safety glasses <br /> • appropriate gloves <br /> • respirator with organic filter cartridges <br /> Use of each safety item was dependent upon work activities <br /> underway. <br /> The site manager ensured that a first aid kit and fire extinguisher <br /> were available during all work hours . An easily seen wind <br /> indicator was positioned on site . All site personnel were briefed <br /> on the procedure for summoning emergency response and made aware of <br /> the closest location for medical aid. No health & safety incidents <br /> occurred during field activities . <br /> 14 <br />
