' 70 FUTURE ACTIVITIES
There are two additional monitoring events scheduled for the three monitoring wells at
' the Site Based upon the analytical results for the first round of groundwater sampling samples
collected during the second round of sampling from MW-1 and MW-3, conducted on September
5 1996, were analyzed for TPH-JP4 and BTEX only Samples were collected from MW-2 for
TPH-JP4 TPH-G, and BTEX as proposed in the Site Investigation Workplan Addendum dated
May 10, 1996, and approved in a faxed response from PHS/EHD dated May 15, 1996 and in a
phone conversation with Mr Mike Infurria of SJPHS on August 29, 1996 If results of the
rsecond round of sampling do not indicate the presence of TPH-G in the groundwater sample
collected from MW-2 Versar proposes that samples collected during future groundwater
monitoring events be analyzed only for TPH-JP4 and BTEX If petroleum hydrocarbons have not
been detected after the fourth round of groundwater monitoring and sampling, or if detections
have remained consistent. Versar will recommend site closure to the appropriate regulatory
agencies on behalf of the Division of the State Architect
The second round of quarterly sampling, conducted on September 5, 1996, included the
following tasks
• Recording water-level measurements from the three monitoring wells
• Sampling the groundwater in the three monitoring wells and laboratory analysis
• of the samples
• Surveying the three monitoring wells, calculating the groundwater flow direction
' and gradient based on water-level measurements from the wells
• Summarizing the data and producing a quarterly report
' Since results of the soil stockpile sampling did not indicate the presence of petroleum
hydrocarbons, Versar recommends and requests approval for the soil to be spread on site
P IDSA1STOCKTOM337200111 STQTR RPT 11
