r '
ig I
6ETTLER - RYAN'
INc.
June 8, 2010
Ms. Lori Duncan
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202-3029
Subject: Work Plan Addendum to Limited Subsurface Assessment Work Plan,
City of Ripon/Madsen Sunrise Dairy,239 South Stockton Street,Ripon, California
Ms. Duncan:
At the request of the City of Ripon,Gettler-Ryan Inc.(GR)has prepared this Work Plan Addendum to Limited
Subsurface Assessment Work Plan in response to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD)letter dated May 4,2010. The original work plan dated April 15,2010 was prepared by GR. The
original scope of work includes excavation of four test pits within the former UST excavation and collection of
soil samples from the test pits.
Based upon SJCEHD's letter of May 4,2010,GR proposes,in addition to the test pits, the following scope of
work.
Task 1. Pre-field Activities
GR will update the site safety plan, and will obtain the necessary permits from SJCEHD. Underground
Service Alert(USA)will be notified at least 72 hours prior to excavating.
Task 2. Soil Borings
Four soil borings will be advanced at the locations shown on Figure 2. Gregg Drilling and Testing Inc.,
a California-licensed well driller (C-57 #485165), will advance the borings. A GR geologist will
monitor the drilling activities and prepare a log of each well boring. Each boring will be cleared for
subsurface utilities to 5 feet bgs by hand auger. GR anticipates encountering groundwater at
approximately 29 feet bgs. The borings will be then advanced to approximately 30 feet bgs using a
GeoProbe®or similar equipment that advances the boring equipment hydraulically without generating
soil cuttings.
Soil samples for description will be obtained from each boring at five-foot interval and will be submitted
for chemical analysis as described in Task 3. Soil samples will be collected with a 1.5-inch diameter
slalit-sampler with clean liners. Once water is encountered,a water sample will also be collected
from each of the borings and submitted for chemical analysis as described in Task 3.
6747 Sierra Court, Suite J • Dublin, CA 94568 • (925) 551-7555 • Fax (925) 551-7888
3140 Gold Camp Drive, Suite 170 • Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 • (916) 631-1300 • Fax (916) 631-1317
1364 N.
