I <br /> '�eofogica( echnics Inc. <br /> 2741 Rwer Road <br /> Modesto,Ca467mta 95351 <br /> (209)538 6424/jai#538 5852 <br /> Report <br /> Groundwater Investigation <br /> Ripon Milling, Inc. <br /> 320 Stockton Street <br /> Ripon, California <br /> Project No 253 2 <br /> July 31, 1995 <br /> EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />' On August 16, 1994, two underground storage tanks formerly used to store diesel <br /> fuel were removed from the Ripon Milling Facility located at 320 South Stockton <br /> Street, Ripon, California During removal significant soil staining and odor were <br /> encountered It was decided with concurrence of the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services Environmental Health Division (SJCPHSEHD) inspector that, in the <br /> interest of cost effectiveness, the tank removal site would be over-excavated while <br /> the digging equipment was on site The over-excavation continued until field <br /> screening and subjective observations suggested that the contaminated soil had been <br /> I removed This was supported by confirmation samples which indicated that the <br /> remedial over-excavation was successful in removing the impacted soil The <br /> excavation was backfilled with clean fill in lifts, compacted and finished to grade <br />' No further action was required by the SJCPHSEHD in regard to the in situ soil <br /> contamination <br />' On September 19, 1994, the SJCPHSEHD directed Ripon Milling to submit a work <br /> plan proposing the installation of one groundwater monitoring well to verify that no <br /> impact to groundwater occurred <br /> On January 10, 1995 Geological Technics Inc was contracted to prepare the work <br /> plan proposing a groundwater investigation On February 3, 1995, Geological <br /> I Technics Inc submitted the Monitoring Well Installation and Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Work Pian The work plan was approved by the SJCPHSEHD on February 21, 1995 <br />' On March 7, 1995 Geological Technics Inc supervised the installation of <br /> groundwater monitoring well MW-1 The groundwater was sampled on two <br /> occasions, March 13, 1995 and June 15, 1995 Relatively low concentrations of <br /> I <br />
