d 1
Sample 31034 was taken from the west end of the excavation, and sample 31035 was
obtained from the east end. Both samples were taken at approximately 85 feet below
ground surface The soil consisted of a medium brown, moist, silty clay.
A photoionization detector (PID) used in the field to screen the soil for volatile organic
constituents Neither of the two soil samples showed PID readings above ambient
background levels.
Analytical Results
The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons extractable (Method 3550) by
GC-FID, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene by EPA Method 8020 The
samples were analyzed on a one-week, rush, turnaround schedule Of the analyses
requested by the SJLHD, only one constituent was present above the laboratory reporting
limit Sample 31035 (east end of the tank) had 110 mg/kg total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel
Kleinfelder recommends a copy of this report be submitted to the San Joaquin Local
Health District for their review. If you have any questions or require our services any
further, please do not hesitate to contact us
Limitations
Kleinfelder performed this investigation in accordance with generally accepted standards of
care which exists in Northern Califorma at this time. It should be recognized that
0 definition and evaluation of geologic conditions is a difficult and inexact art. Judgements
leading to conclusions and recommendations are generally made with incomplete
knowledge of the subsurface conditions present More extensive studies, including
subsurface investigations, may be performed to reduce uncertainties. If the client wishes to
continue this investigation, Kleinfelder should be notified for additional consultation No
warranty, expressed or implied, is made
Sincerely,
KLEINFELDER, INC.
Enc S Findlay
Project Geologist
Stephen S Boll, P E.
Senior Engineer
ESF SSB cc
cc Dan Clement, City of Stockton
. 168-89-328
