SOILS SAMPLING AND TESTING NNM <br /> SWIFT TRANSPORTATION WALLAra MiL&ASSocIATEs INC <br /> WKA No. 1004.37 <br /> January 29, 1991 <br /> • Page 2 <br /> Laboratory Testing <br /> Laboratory test results for sample Tl, obtained from beneath the 7,500-gallon tank, revealed a TPH <br /> as diesel concentration of 17 mg/kg and WET lead concentrations of 0.18 mg/L. Test results for <br /> sample T2, also obtained from beneath the 7,500-gallon tank, revealed a TPH as gasoline <br /> concentration of 2 9 mg/kg, a TPH as diesel concentration of 21 mg/kg, ethyl benzene and total <br /> xylenes concentrations of 0 0081 and 0.092 mg/kg, respectively, and, a WET lead concentration of <br /> 0 19 mg/L. <br /> Test results for sample P2, obtained from beneath the product line for the 7,500-gallon tank, <br /> revealed a TPH as gasoline concentration of 250 mg/kg, a TPH as diesel concentration of 8,500 <br /> mg/kg, a WET lead concentration of 0 05 mg/L, benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes <br /> concentrations of 23, 0 31, 0 24, 0 47 mg/kg, respectively Test results for sample P4, also obtained <br /> from beneath the fill line of the 7,500-gallon tank, revealed TPH as diesel concentration of 97 <br /> mg/kg and a WET lead concentration of 0 02 mg/L <br /> Sample 73, obtained from beneath the 10,000-gallon diesel tank, contained non-detectable <br /> concentrations of TPH and BTX&E. Test results for sample T4, also obtained from beneath the <br /> 10,000-gallon tank, revealed a TPH as diesel concentration of 270 mg/kg <br /> Test results for sample P1, obtained from beneath the product line for the 10,000-gallon tank, <br /> revealed a TPH as diesel concentration of 2,000 mg/kg, benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total <br /> xylenes concentrations for this sample were 0.17, 0 033, 21, and 0 86 mg/kg, respectively Test <br /> results for sample P3, also obtained from beneath the product line for the 10,000-gallon tank, <br /> revealed a TPH as diesel concentration of 330 mg/kg <br /> Complete laboratory test results and chain-of-custody documentation are attached <br /> Conclusions and Recommendations <br /> Our observations during tank removal and the laboratory analyses indicate that the subsurface soils <br /> have been contaminated with gasoline and diesel in the vicinity of the tank and product line <br /> excavations <br /> We recommend that the San Joaquin County Public Health Services be notified of our findings <br /> A site-specific workplan for a proper site characterization should then be prepared, as required by <br /> the regulatory agencies, so that an appropriate, cost-effective remedial treatment can be <br /> implemented for the ,property. <br /> Limitations <br /> The above conclusions are based on our assessment of conditions indicated to exist as of the date <br /> of our field work, January 14, 1991 The results of this investigation do not preclude the possibility <br />
