r
781 SWIFT WAY
WKA No 1735 02
10 August 19, 1994
Page 2
Water from the disposable bailer was decanted into appropriate sample containers provided by the
Iaboratory
The samples were immediately placed in an ice-chest with ice and submitted under cham-of-
custody to a California-certified laboratory for analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)
using Modified EPA test method 8015, and Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Total Xylenes
(BTEX) using EPA test method 602
The three-inch diameter submersible pump was cleaned prior to purging each well with a solution
of trisodium phosphate and distilled water to minimize the potential for cross-contamination All
water removed during sampling and purging operations was placed in sealed and labeled 55-
gallon drums and stored on site.
iNo free product was observed in monitoring wells MWI, MW2, and MW3, however, the water
sample obtained from MWI had a sheen Analytical results of water sample MW1 revealed no
detectable concentrations of TPH as diesel, motor oil, or BTEX, however, a product not typical
of TPH as gasoline revealed a concentration of 240 µglf This product is more than likely
partially biodegraded diesel related to the former diesel underground storage tanks Analytical
results of water sample MW2 revealed no detectable concentrations of TPH or BTEX
Analytical results of water sample MW3 revealed no detectable concentrations of TPH, toluene,
ethylbenzene or total xylenes, however a trace concentration of benzene was detected Analytical
results of the travel blank revealed a trace concentration of toluene and total xylenes This is
likely the result of laboratory error and is considered insignificant since none of the water
samples for the three wells revealed concentrations of toluene or total xylenes Analytical results
for the ground water samples obtained from the three on-site monitoring wells are summarized in
Table 2 Complete analytical results and chain-of-custody documentation are included in the
Appendix
1
WALLACE KUHL
Recycled paper
6ASSOCIATfS INC
