PHS/EHD has reviewed
the preliminary soil and groundwater analytical results for
samples collected under permit and inspection on October 18, 1996
and has the following comments .
Two of the nine soil samples, SB-3 at 10 feet and SB-4 at 10
feet, contain detectable petroleum hydrocarbon. Soil sample
results at fifteen feet in SB-3 and SB-4 were below detection
limits which indicates an extremely limited amount of residual
hydrocarbon in the vadose zone above groundwater. Groundwater is
currently 22 feet below ground surface .
Soil boring SB-4 was converted to a groundwater monitoring well
and sampled on October 18 , 1996 . The first round water sample
results were non-detect for petroleum hydrocarbons . PHS/EHD will
send a request for site closure to the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board. If no negative response is received
within 30 days PHS/EHD will allow the monitoring well to be
destroyed. After the monitoring well abandonment has been
completed and required reports have been submitted a letter will
be issued that states no further action is required at this time .
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact
Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442 .
Donna Heran, REHS Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Se for REHS Margar` t Lagori REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
HK/lb
cc : Cambria
Environmental Closures
WP/SYC443
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
