This verification must be performed at all locations where Mobil owns the tanks. 2. Plan to perform the verification at a time when the location has limited customer traffic. 3. Take"Opening Stick Readings" by physically gauging the storage tanks. Check for water with water finding paste and complete the "Storage Tank Readings" section of the form. 4. Take gallon meter readings from dispensers and enter in "Opening Meter Readings" section. 5. After 30 days, repeat steps 2 and 3 to obtain "Closing Stick and Meter Readings_" e. Enter all deliveries made between opening and closing dates. 7. Calculate"Sales by Stick" and "Sales by Meter"and compare results to arrive at meter overfshort. 8. Submit verification form to District Office. 9. When variations in excess of 5 gallons per 1,000 gallons delivered(.5%)are recorded,the following steps should be taken: a. Check all calculations for possible errors. b. Visually inspect dispenser piping,vent pipe area, submersible pumps, and area around fill caps for evidence of leakage. c. Question dealer concerning instances of meter spinning, delivery spills, slow pumping at the dispensers, incorrect motor fuel bill- ings, water complaints,gasoline orders, etc. d. If variations above guidelines still exist after the calculation check or maintenance problems are identified in items b or c.call the Engineering Center immediately. e.
