S%R4ARX OF FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIOWS
The findings and conclusions of the activities completed to
date can be summarized as follows:
1) The results of this sampling event indicate the continued
presence of hydrocarbon contamination in the ground
water.
2) Dewatering activities west of the site have caused the
ground water flow direction to shift from the northeast
to northwest direction. The dewatering has also affected
the contaminant transport beneath the site.
3) The value for the hydraulic conductivity as determined by
the slug and the pump test methods is 0.015 and
- 6.9 meters per day, respectively. The transmissivity and
storage coefficient of the aquifer were determined to be
40.2 m2/day and 1.09 X 10_4 m/m.
k 4) The calculated average linear velocity of a fluid
particle moving in the aquifer onsite is
6.9 X 10_3 meters per day, while the offsite average
linear velocity is 1.5 X 10-5 meters per day. The
difference in the on- and offsite linear velocities can
be expected due to the proximity of the onsite test well
- to the tank cavity. The offsite linear velocity is
r_.
probably more representative of the linear velocity of
the site.
 5) Additional investigation work is necessary to define the
extent of hydrocarbon contamination in the ground water
and determine the appropriate remedial measures.
3r
12
i
