INC. <br /> 093 GETTLER - RYAN <br /> Apn 124,2002 <br /> Mr David J Camille <br /> Phillips 66 Company <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Road, Suite 400 <br /> San Ramon,California 94583 <br /> Subject: Purging Events of August 12,2001 through December 27,2001 <br /> Remedial Status Report for Tosca(Former BP)Station No. 11194 <br /> 2375 Tracy Boulevard,Tracy, California <br /> Mr Camille <br /> At the request of Tosco Corporation, a subsidiary of Phillips Petroleum Company (Tosco), Gettler- <br /> Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this report to document groundwater sampling,purging, and disposal for <br /> the subject site Activities documented in this report were initially proposed in GR's Work Plan for <br /> Groundwater Purging and Disposal(Work Plan), dated April 25, 2000 This work was performed to <br /> reduce methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) concentrations in groundwater in the vicinity of the <br /> underground storage tank (UST) pit and groundwater monitoring well MW-2 Up to 5,000 gallons of <br /> • groundwater have been purged from the UST pit backfill and disposed of weekly at the Tosco <br /> refinery in Rodeo,California <br /> Groundwater Removal and Disposal <br /> Groundwater was removed from the UST pit through the UST pit observation well OBS-W In <br /> conjunction with OBS-W, additional purging was carred out in AMW-5 and MW-2 between July 5, <br /> 2000 and November 7, 2000 accounting for about 10 Percent of the groundwater purged dunng this <br /> time period The groundwater was purged from these wells directly into vacuum trucks by Onyx <br /> Industnal Services (Onyx) of Benicia, California and transported to the Tosco Refinery in Rodeo, <br /> California for disposal From August 12, 2001, to December 27, 2001 approximately 47,300 gallons <br /> of groundwater were removed from the site The approximate amount of groundwater removed from <br /> the site since the purging program was initiated on May 3, 2000 is 322,200 gallons The locations of <br /> OBS-W, AMW-5 and MW-2 are shown on Figure 1 <br /> Groundwater Sampling <br /> Groundwater samples have been collected periodically from MW-2, MW-3, MW-7 and OBS-W and <br /> analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015, and benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) by EPA Method 8021 <br /> The analytical results have been used to document hydrocarbon concentration trends and comply with <br /> Tosco Refinery requirements Sample dates and analytical results are summanzed in Table I The <br /> laboratory analytical reports and chain of custody documents are attached to this report <br /> 14018704-4 <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Smite J • Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 } 551 - 7555 <br />
