6ETTLER - RYAN I6191 <br /> , <br /> August 14, 2001 <br /> Mr David J Camille <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Road, Suite 400 <br /> San Ramon,California 94583 <br /> Subject: Purging Events of September 21,2000 through August 3,2001 <br /> Remedial Status Report for Tosco(Former BP)Station No. 11194 <br /> 2375 Tracy Boulevard,Tracy, California <br /> Mr Camille <br /> At the request of Tosca Marketing Company (Tosco), Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this report <br /> to document groundwater sampling, purging, and disposal for the subject site Activities documented <br /> in this report were initially proposed in GR's Work Plan for Groundwater Purging and Disposal <br /> (Work Plan), dated April 25, 2000 This work was performed to reduce methyl tertiary butyl ether <br /> (MTBE) concentrations in groundwater in the vicinity of the underground storage tank (UST) pit and <br /> groundwater monitoring well MW-2 Up to 5,000 gallons of groundwater have been purged from the <br /> } UST pit backfill and disposed of weekly at the Tosco refinery in Rodeo, California <br /> Groundwater Removal and Disposal <br /> Groundwater was removed from the UST pit through the UST pit observation well OBS-W In <br /> conjunction with OBS-W, additional purging was carried out in groundwater monitoring wells <br /> AMW-5, and MW-2 between September 21, 2000 and November 7, 2000 accounting for about 10 % <br /> of the groundwater purged during this time penod The groundwater was purged from these wells <br /> directly into vacuum trucks by Onyx Industrial Services (Onyx) of Benicia, California and transported <br /> to the Tosco Refinery in Rodeo,California for disposal From September 21, 2000 to August 3, 2001, <br /> approximately 190,300 gallons of groundwater were removed from the site, primarily from OBS-W <br /> The approximate amount of groundwater removed from the site since the purging program was <br /> initiated on May 3, 2000 is 274,900 gallons The locations of OBS-W, AMW-5 and MW-2 are <br /> shown on Figure 1 <br /> Groundwater Sampling <br /> Groundwater samples have been collected periodically from MW-2 and OBS-W and analyzed for <br /> Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015, and benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) by EPA Method 8020 The <br /> analytical results have been used to document hydrocarbon concentration trends and comply with <br /> Tosco Refinery requirements Sample dates and analytical results are summarized in Table 1 <br /> 14018704-3 <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J • Dublin , California 94568 • ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
