MONITORING REPORT - STARTUP PHASE
for
Former Mobil Station 04-NP4
2375 Tracy Boulevard
Tracy, California
June 29, 1992
INTRODUCTION
This report presents results and findings of the startup phase sampling of the ground water
automatic recovery system (ARS) operating at former Mobil Station 04-NP4, 2375 Tracy
Boulevard, Tracy, California Samples were collected and analyzed to comply with National
Pollutant Discharge Elunination System (NPDES) permit requirements A site vicinity map
is shown in Figure 1
ARS OPERATION
The ARS was installed in May 1992 to treat subsurface dissolved-phase hydrocarbons The
system consists of one recovery well with an electrical submersible pump, support piping,
a transfer pump, a filter, and two 1,OWpound activated-carbon canisters in series Effluent
is discharged to a storm dram which leads to Sugar Cut Canal.
FIELD PROCEDURES
Startup was initiated on May 13, 1992. Monitoring and sampling of the ARS was conducted
in accordance with requirements and procedures of the self-monitoring program established
m the NPDES permit. The process flow diagram is shown in Figure 2 Sampling ports are
designated as follows.
I-1 Influent from recovery well
A-1 Effluent from primary carbon canister
E-1 Effluent from secondary carbon canister, before discharge into storm drain
During the first day's sampling, effluent was discharged into 55-gallon drums and stored
onsite for disposal at a later date Parameters such as electrical conductivity, pH, and flow
rate were measured by Alton Geoscience. Water samples were collected in glass containers
