• Used spectral and time-domain methods to analyze time-series data. Developed
digital filters for barometric, tidal, and water-balance effects in pressure-head
records from the deep observation wells. Performed theoretical investigations
of pressure-head response to earth strain, and published research results.
• Performed reservoir evaporation studies: collected and processed data, installed
data acquisition equipment (radiation stations, stream gauging stations, weather
stations), and performed stream discharge measurements, thermal surveys of
reservoirs, computer programming, and computational work.
Colorado State University
Conducted research on multiphase flow in porous media, emphasizing gaseous
transport of VOCs. Helped write proposals and worked on the multi-million
dollar research project "Organic Solvents in Groundwater" in collaboration with
the University of Waterloo and the Oregon Graduate Center.
• Conducted research on water yield from deep Denver Basin sediments. Project
involved cutting continuous core to the 3,000-foot depth, performing laboratory
tests, and correlating analytical results to the geophysical logs, including NMR.
• Conducted research on active and passive microwave remote sensing of
snowpack properties, and published research results.
• Developed and taught a new course, ER 101 - Introduction to Watershed
Sciences, Spring 1981 .
Office of Surface Mining
• Reviewed mining permit applications, wrote environmental assessments of the
probable hydrologic impacts of mining plans, negotiated with mining company
officials, and provided research and technical support for administrative and
enforcement personnel.
