Receiving • Stocking <br /> (SOP 31) Rotating Merchandise: <br /> First In, First Out (FIFO) <br /> Policy <br /> For merchandise that has a limited shelf life as indicated by expiration or "Sell by" dates, <br /> rotation must occur on a daily basis as the store is recovered. START provides one source of <br /> rotation date information, but should not be used as a substitute for checking dates during daily <br /> recovery. <br /> Procedures <br /> 1. Examine merchandise for expiration or "Sell by" dates that are nearing or may have passed. Pull any <br /> outdated merchandise. Take note of any close-dated merchandise. <br /> 2. If a product is past the expiration or "Sell by" date, remove the product and place it in the <br /> appropriate damage to zero location. The Store Manager must damage it to zero according to the <br /> Damage to Zero Markdown (SOP 15) policy and procedures. <br /> 3. Bring existing merchandise to the front of the shelf. <br /> 4. Place new product behind existing product. <br /> 5. When stacking products, the newly received product must be placed on the bottom of the stack, <br /> and all on-hand product must be moved to the top of the stack. <br /> Questions?
