TETRA TECH
Memorandum
TO: DATE:
San Joaquin County March 10,2020
Environmental Health Department
FROM: PROJECT NUMBER: PHONE NUMBER:
Shawn Morrish TET 20-184E (909)860-7777 x
3200
RE:
Well Permit Application—Soil Borings(Supplemental Information)
Drilling on Forward Landfill,Manteca,San Joaquin County
This memorandum provides additional information for the attached Well Permit Application for
drilling 5 Hollow Stem Auger(HSA) borings for a geotechnical investigation at Forward Landfill
(see Figure 1) located at 9999 S Austin Rd, Manteca, California. The borings are needed to
characterize soil properties for the design of a gas pipeline and facility.
Depth to groundwater at the site is currently estimated at 60 feet below the ground surface. The
soil borings will be advanced to a maximum depth of 50 feet. The soils borings will be drilled
with a HSA truck-mounted rig. It is anticipated that native earth materials within the boring will
consist primarily of valley soil deposits.
The boreholes will be backfilled with a mix and placed per the Environmental Health Department
guidelines. Grouting for the borings will be performed from the bottom of the hole to 12 inches
below grade. The upper 12 inches will be tamped with clean soils to the surface. All backfilling
and grouting will be done per the San Joaquin County — Environmental Health Department
guidelines for well construction/decommissioning specified requirements.
Attachments: - Figure 1 - Boring Location Map
- Application for Well Permit(Soil Borings)
- Online payment: $1064.00 (permit fee for 5 soil borings)+$24.37 (processing
fees) =$1088.37 total
Filename:Forward Landfill Well Permit Application Memo
21700 Copley Drive#200"Diamond Bar,CA 91765*Tel:909-860-7777*www.tetratech.com
