Spill Cleanup for Larger Spills (one gallon or more <br /> For spills larger than one gallon or those believed to pose significant hazards to people, <br /> property or the environment, contact 3E at 1-800-451-8346 and follow their instructions. <br /> Spill Cleanup for Smaller Spills (less than one gallon) <br /> Clean up the spill as soon as possible. Protective equipment (e.g., disposable gloves, safety <br /> glasses) must be worn prior to starting containment and clean-up of the spill. The required <br /> protective equipment is provided at the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Station. <br /> 1. Retrieve the closest spill kit or gather the following supplies from the Accumulation Station: <br /> disposable safety cones, gloves, safety glasses, absorbent, broom, dust pan and self-sealing <br /> hazardous waste bag(s). <br /> 2. Place safety cones on each side of the spill to alert Associates and customers. <br /> 3. If the container is still leaking, stop the leakage immediately. If the container is on its side, <br /> set it upright; if the cap is loose, tighten securely. <br /> 4. Starting at the outside edge of the spill, pour a ring of absorbent all the way around to keep <br /> the liquid from spreading. Sprinkle the rest of the spill with sufficient absorbent. Allow the <br /> absorbent to soak up as much liquid as possible. <br /> Then, be <br /> sure to <br /> } double bag! <br /> `atl°�5 wa,teµ <br /> k <br /> 5. Starting on the outside of the outside of the spill, sweep the spill and absorbed material <br /> inward with the broom and dustpan. Place the waste materials in the self-sealing bag. <br /> 6. Use paper towels to blot the spill area and absorb any remaining spill. Place the paper <br /> towels, disposable gloves, and additional cleanup materials into the self-sealing bag(s). <br /> Transport the waste to the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Station. <br /> 7. Using a permanent black marker, label the outside of the bag(s) with the name of the spilled <br /> product and the contents (e.g., "Awesome Floor Cleaner Cleanup Materials"). Double bag <br /> and place the sealed waste into the appropriate tote at the Hazardous Waste Station. <br /> All spill materials must be processed as hazardous waste. This includes the product and its <br /> container, paper towels, absorbent, used gloves, and any wet cardboard (box) that was <br /> contaminated by the product.
