1.0 INTRODUCTION
' On behalf of the Union Ice Limited Partnership, ICF Kaiser Engineers, Inc (ICF KE)
measured groundwater levels and collected groundwater samples for chemical analysis from
' five monitor wells (MW-1,-2,-3,-4 and -5) at the former Union Ice facility at 425 North Union
Street, Stockton, California (Figure 1) as part of a required quarterly monitoring program This
report presents the results of the water level measurements and the chemical analyses A
' summary of the site background, previous sod and groundwater analytical results, and reme-
dial efforts is presented in ICF KE's "Sod and Groundwater Investigation Report' (ICF Kaiser,
1994)
2.0 WATER-LEVEL MEASUREMENTS
Water-level measurements were recorded for Wells MW-1 through MW-5 on July 27,
1995 Measurements were made using an electric water-level probe graduated in 0 02-foot
increments The lowest point on the open well casing is marked and was surveyed as the
reference point for the water level measurements Water level elevations were calculated
based on the results of a level survey performed on October 31, 1994 to determine reference
elevations of Wells MW-1, -2, -3, and -5 Figure 2 presents the potentiometric surface as mea-
sured on July 27, 1995 Well MW-4 was not surveyed in October 1994, and the water level
elevation measured in this well was not used to prepare the map of the potentiometric surface
' (Figure 2)
The most recent and selected historical groundwater measurements are presented in
' Table 1 The elevation of the potentiometric surface increased an average of 8 5 feet from
October 1993 through April 1995 The potentiometric surface increased an average of 0 8
' feet from April 1995 through July 1995 The direction of groundwater flow is to the northeast
with a horizontal hydraulic gradient of approximately 0 003 foot/foot (Figure 2)
30 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
On July 27, 1995, groundwater samples were collected from monitor Wells MWA
through MW-5 Each well was purged of approximately 3 well-casing volumes using a clean
Teflon® bailer The purge water was collected and placed into a labeled DOT approved
1
R41820A-261950-1 1
