_ 31 January 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0451
4.0. FINDINGS
4.1. SOIL PROFILE
Primarily silty clay was encountered through the entire depth explored (30 feet bsg). Organic vapor
and hydrocarbon odor were not detected in the five soil samples collected from probing Bl, The
boring log is included in Appendix A.
4.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SAMPLES
No petroleum hydrocarbon compounds or fuel oxygenates were detected in the samples collected
at depths of 15 and 20 feet bsg. The laboratory report (AAL Order No. A00011303) and chain-of-
custody form are included in Appendix B.
5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following:
• The soil profile indicates that the soil is primarily silty clay which would inhibit the
migration of petroleum hydrocarbons.
• Petroleum hydrocarbons were initially detected following the removal of the UST; however,
neither hydrocarbon odor nor organic vapor were noted in the five soil samples collected
from probing B1. The two soil samples analyzed from the boring did not contain petroleum
hydrocarbons or fuel oxygenates. The non-detection of hydrocarbons in boring B I indicates
that the extent of hydrocarbons detected during the UST removal is very limited.
Based on the non-detection of the hydrocarbons in boring B 1, AGE recommends that the PHS-EHD
consider granting a site closure.
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based upon field
y measurements and analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the
geologiclhydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a
limited number of available data points (i.e. soil samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away
from these data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
recommendations contained in this report.
Advanced CeaEnvironmental,Inc.
