12 May 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0451
inch brass sleeves.
5. Preserve soil samples in the second brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets,
capping, and sealing with tape.
6. Label samples with date,location,boring number and depth,time of sampling,and sampler's
initials.
7. Log samples on a chain-of-custody form and store samples in a chilled container pending
transport to a state-certified laboratory.
8. Monitor soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an
organic vapor meter equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-calibrated to
isobutylene.
9. Log soil sample duplicates in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.
10. If ground water is encountered, collect a grab water sample using a Geoprobe water sampling
assembly by advancing the ground water sampling assembly through the ground water
interface and retracting the casing to expose 4 feet of screened PVC casing. Water will be
retrieved using a positive displacement sample tubing and ball bearing assembly. The ground
water sample will be collected into 40-m1 VOA vials and one-liter amber bottles.
11. Label sample containers with location, probe number, date and time of sampling, and
sampler's initials.
12. Store the labeled samples in a chilled container and transport to a state-certified laboratory
for analysis. Selected samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, TPH-mo, BTE&X and
oxygenated compounds in accordance with EPA methods 503018015m, 8020/602 and 8260,
respectively.
13. Backfill probing to surface grade using port]and cement.
4.2. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of probing, sampling and laboratory analyses, a brief report will be prepared
summarizing results of the work performed. The report will include recommendations for additional
investigation or remediation, if necessary. The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS-EHD
and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
Advanced Ceo£nvironmental,Inc.
