Borings will be backfilled when sampling is completed. Historic records
identify the area as a potential source area, once used as an evaporation/percolation pond for storm runoff.
Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for VOCs utilizing United States Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8010. Our comments on the Workplan are presented below.
General Comments
1. Due to the potential for substantial variability of contaminant concentrations in soil, discrete-depth
soil gas sampling instead of soil sampling should be conducted in the gravel area. Submit soil gas
samples for laboratory analysis using EPA Method 8260.
2. Based on the site use history, groundwater samples should be submitted for laboratory analysis for
the presence of volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8260 and Title 26 Metals by EPA
Methods 6010/7000 series.
By 14 October 2002, submit a revised Workplan or an Addendum that addresses our comments.
