• Well Abandon
Drilling Contractor Scope f Work
AME Project No.16014.01
Revision 1,June 5,2002
Site Location,Description
The well(RW-1) is located in the general vicinity of 75 West Valpico Road, Tracy, California
95376(former Georgia-Pacific Corporation Chemical Packaging Plant). See attached figures.
Task
Abandon one 8-inch diameter PVC recovery well to a depth of 80 feet following San Joaquin
County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division Well Standards for the
destruction of wells(enclosed).
Target Date
Early July 2002, depending upon receipt of well destruction permit from San Joaquin County
Public Health Services Environmental Health Division.
Abandonment Method for Recovery Well RW-1
Mechanical Perforation Method
Perforation of the casing will be done from 64 to 72 feet below ground surface (bgs). A clay
/ aquitard approximately 2 feet thick is present from approximately 67 feet to 69 feet bgs in the
formation. The perfmg interval will be four perfs per foot between 64 and 72 feet bgs. Upon
completion of each perfmg interval, the perfmg tool will be rotated 90 degrees developing a
spiral perforation pattern in the screened interval of the casing from 64 to 72 feet bgs.
Grouting Procedures
Upon completion of all perforations, the borehole will be grouted in one continuous operation
using a gravity feed from the bottom of the well up to the surface using a tremie pipe. The grout
will consist of either a 9 sack sand slurry or neat cement and be of sufficient quantity to backfill
both the sand pack and casing to the top creating a mushroom like cap.
Surface Excavation
The well has a concrete-type well box and associated piping, both of which are to be removed.
A hole at least one foot greater than the diameter of the originally drilled borehole will be
excavated around the outside of the well casing to a depth of three to five feet bgs.
The casing will be cut off six inches above the bottom of the excavation and removed. The grout
used for filling the well will be allowed to spill over into the excavation to a minimum thickness
of one foot, forming a mushroom like cap with a diameter at least one foot greater than the edge
NIVU2
c.\wPa002 UR \02-157 sow.d«
AL#MIMOEFAff Sf
U6s00, awme"0°R
ftpw i Q v
APP- . twOVW MftWGr
0 of WM* w.tt ws% r z
Reetadat
ov Ie ndda so*bv*Wft &Moddg~
toereon and does not 8UVWtte or approve airy medMten or
da-viatiion from requivements of state taws or 1McOt^
