VW
Ms. Julie Raming - 2 - 13 December 2000
While we concur that well BC-11 needs to be abandoned, the work plan did not recommend replacing it.
This well is between the site and the adjacent neighborhood, and is downgradient of well BC-19, which
contains elevated chloroform concentrations. A well in this vicinity would provide critical information
necessary to evaluate:
The overall effectiveness of the interim remedial system;
• The potential effects of the system on groundwater elevations;
• The radius of influence of extraction well RW-2; and,
• The effect of the system on contaminant concentrations.
Therefore, Georgia-Pacific needs to submit a work plan addendum to install a replacement well for
BC-11.
The work plan(included in this report)to abandon monitoring well BC-11 is hereby approved,provided
that our comments are incorporated into the work. By 12 January 2000, please submit a work plan
addendum to replace well BC-11,which should include a schedule to abandon it, replace it, and submit a
report.
If you have any questions, you may contact me at(916) 255-3119.
JE SICA HARDY.
gineering Geologist
cc: Mr. Michael Infurna, San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health, Stockton
Mr. Bradford Dickson,Brown and Caldwell, Walnut Creek
