The boring will then be filled with clean, uncontaminated fill material from 2 feet bgs to ground surface. It is proposed that the 12 ozone sparging wells (0.75 inches in diameter and extending from 67.5 to 73.0 feet bgs) be destroyed by over-drilling using 6-inch-diameter augers, effectively removing all material within the original boreholes. The borings will be backfilled using Type UII cement grout tremmied into the well to a depth of 2 feet bgs. The boring will then be filled with clean, uncontaminated fill material from 2 feet bgs to ground surface. Well construction details are shown in Table 1. Soil boring logs and well completion diagrams are included as Enclosures A and B, respectively. Tasks A summary of the tasks to be performed is as follows: • Obtain a permit from San Joaquin County to destroy 33 ground water monitoring and ozone sparging wells. • Coordinate access with the current operator of the facility. • Obtain access agreements with all impacted parties. • Use an underground utility locating company to locate ground water and ozone sparging wells that may be buried and assure that all borings are clear of utilities. • Notify Underground Service Alert at least 72 hours prior to scheduled drilling. • Notify San Joaquin County prior to well destruction activities to schedule inspection. • Verify that there are no obstructions in the wells intended to be pressure grouted. • Remove the standpipes and flush mounts from the monitoring and ozone sparging wells. • Pressure grout 21 ground water monitoring wells as previously described. • Over-drill 12 ozone sparging wells as previously described. • Complete Department of Water Resources Well Completion Reports for each well destroyed. ©2011.
