' Title 2720415(e)(2) requires all monitoring wells and all other borings (including but
not limited to gas monitoring wells) drilled to satisfy the requirements qf this division, be drilled
by a licensed drilling contractor (or by a drilling crew under the direct supervision of the design
engineer or engineering geologist), and shall be logged during drilling under the direct
supervision of a person who is a registered geologist or a registered civil engineer, and who has
expertise in strarigraphic well logging. These logs shall be submitted to the RWQCB upon
completion of drilling. " We request the Discharger provide a statement that they will be in
compliance with this requirement. "
• in accordance with Title 27 20415(e)(2) the monitoring wells and all other borings (including
but not limited to gas monitoring wells) drilled to satisfy the requirements of this division, be
drilled by a licensed drilling contractor (or by a drilling crew under the direct supervision of
the design engineer or engineering geologist), and shall be logged during drilling under the
direct supervision of a person who is a registered geologist or a registered civil engineer, and
who has expertise in stratigraplve well logging. These logs shall be submitted to the
RWQCB upon completion of drilling.
"Section 3.7 states thor Monitoring and Reporting is usually due by the I" day of the second
month following the prescribed sampling event interval. A this regard, we anticipate that a
separate program for the reporting will be maintained for each Order. Therefore, please be
aware that Order No. 97-075 requires the quarterly monitoring reports be submitted to the
Board by the IP clay of the month following the calendar quarter in which the samples were
taken. The annual report shall be submitted to the Board by 31 January of each year- "
• In Kleinfelder's workplan the due date of the report was only an estimate based on past
experience. In accordance with the Boards prescribed schedule and Order No. 97-075 the
quarterly monitoring reports shall be submitted to the Board by the 15"' day of the month
following the calendar quarter in which the samples were taken. The annual report shall be
submitted to the Board by 31 January of each year.
"We request that Musco provide, not only the new well boring logs, but include the logs from the
other wells associated with the surface impoundments in an appendices to the document We
also request that two cross-sections be drafted which depict the strike and dip orientation of the
geological units"
• Kleinfelder will provide well logs from the new monitoring wells and the boring logs from
the 1985 monitoring well installations of monitoring wells associated with the surface
impoundments. Additionally, Kleinfelder will prepare two cross-sections utilizing the data
obtained from the boring logs to attempt to establish a correlation of the subsurface bedding
from around the surface impoundments. .Please note that to date, Kleinfelder has not
observed bedding planes from samples collected during drilling at the site in which strike
and dip measurements could be taken (samples collected have been unconsolidated)-
13498/2002L148 Page 5 of 6
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder, Inc.
