' 3 SCOPE OF WORK
Based upon the information as made available from Mr. Tim O'Brien and Ms. Kim Schwab of
the RWQCB, and Mr. Ben Hall of Musco Olive, Kleinfelder proposes to install a total of thirteen
(13) monitoring wells at the Musco Family Olive Co. facility. Two of the proposed monitoring
' well locations will be advanced upgradient of the southern 95-acre disposal spray field and the
proposed 114-million gallon storage pond, one monitoring well will be located upgradient of the
' proposed 114 million gallon pond. A third proposed location would be downgradient to the
proposed 114 million gallon pond in the NEC of Section 4.
' A total of two monitoring wells will be installed near the 1 million gallon pond. One monitoring
well each be located upgradient and downgradient to the 1 million gallon pond.
' Three monitoring wells will be installed near the northern 35-acre irrigated pastureland. One
near the southwest corner, one near the northern portion, and one near the southeast comer of the
pastureland, which would also serve as an upgradient monitoring well for the surface
' impoundments.
Additionally, a total of three monitoring wells will be installed near the three process water
' checks and sprayfields south of the intermittent stream. One monitoring well will be installed
upgradient to the sprayfield, one monitoring well will be installed downgradient, and one
monitoring well will be installed downgradient of the process water checks adjacent to the
' sprayfields and south of the intermittent stream. An additional two monitoring wells will be
installed south and east of the surface impoundments to monitor the downgradient groundwater
conditions. Please see Plate 2 for the proposed monitoring well locations.
' 3.1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
' The San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department/Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) requires completion of a well permit and payment of fees prior to advancing soil
borings. Because this workplan will be reviewed and approved by the RWQCB prior to
commencing field activities, we do not anticipate that submittal of the workplan to PHS/EHD
will be necessary. Kleinfelder will prepare drilling permit applications for submittal to
' PHS/EHD along with the required fees and the RWQCB workplan approval. The permits must
be approved prior to drilling and sampling activities. PHS/EHD usually requires up to
approximately two weeks to issue the permits.
The drilling subcontractor will contact Underground Service Alert 48 hours prior to conducting
fieldwork to notify local utilities of our proposed subsurface work. Kleinfelder will additionally
prepare a health and safety plan prior to proceeding with field activities.
12406/2002RI60 Pages 2003
February 20,2002
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder,Inc.
KLEINFELDER 2825 East Myrtle Street,Stockton,CA 95205-4794 12091 948-1345 (209)948-0621 fax
