' described in Appendix B Section B.3.2. In addition to developing the monitoring wells until the
discharge runs relatively clear of fines, the discharge will be periodically monitored for pH,
temperature, and specific conductance.
The well development purge water will be discharged to the land surface in such a manner as not
' to allow the discharge to enter any surface water body.
3.4 INITIAL GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
' Water level measurements will be made in the monitoring wells prior to development, purging and
' sampling the wells. The depth to groundwater will then be measured in each well according to the
protocol described in Appendix B Section B-4.1.
' Approximately three to five well volumes will be purged by pumping or hand bailing. The
groundwater samples will be collected as described in Appendix B-4.2. Each of the water samples
collected for quantitative analyses will be submitted under chain-of-custody control to a
' laboratory certified by the State of Califomia Department of Health Services (DHS) for the
requested analyses.
' 3.5 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
1 After collection, the 13 groundwater samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody, and
immediately stored in an iced cooler. The 12 groundwater samples will be submitted to a State
' certified laboratory and analyzed for the following analyses:
• Nitrates as Nitrogen by EPA Method 300.0
' . Total Dissolved Solids by EPA Method 160.1
• Chloride by EPA Method 300.0
' • Sulfate by EPA Method 300.0
General Minerals by EPA Methods
Chemical Oxygen Demand by EPA Method 410.4
' . Specific Conductivity by EPA Method 120.0
• pH by EPA Method 150.1
The samples will be analyzed on a normal laboratory schedule requiring approximately two
weeks (ten working days) for completion.
12406/2002R 160 Page 7 of 13
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder,Inc.
