5 ASSUMPTIONS AND LIMITATIONS
5.1 ASSUMPTIONS
This workplan is based on the following assumptions:
' • The Musco Family Olive Co. will supply Kleinfelder with written authorization
' from the property owner to obtain access to the site to install and sample the
wells.
Adequate workspace and access will be provided.
• Drilling/sampling derived wastes will be generated during the proposed
' investigation. Excess drilling returns will not be contained and left on site
adjacent to each boring. Water generated during well
development/purging/sampling and water derived from equipment
' decontamination will be discharged into the land surface. Disposal of all
drilling/sampling derived wastes is the responsibility of the Musco Family Olive
Co.
• The Musco Family Olive Co. should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is
inherently risky. It is impossible to determine with certainty the precise location
of all structures (such as pipelines, septic system tanks or leach fields) which may
be buried in the ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both
' the performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such
structures. If an underground structure or utilities on site are damaged by our field
activities, repairs will be necessary in order to provide continued service. Repairs
' are not included in Kleinfelder's fees.
• Underground Services Alert (USA) at 1-800-642-2444 provides a partial location
service free of charge for major utility lines. It is important that the client
understand that subsurface structures (such as the septic systems, irrigation lines,
leach fields, et cetera) buried under private property will not be marked by the
public utility companies contacted by USA. Kleinfelder will require the drilling
subcontractor to contact USA.
12406/2002RI60 Page I 1 of 13
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder, Inc. _ February 20,2002
' KLEINFELDER 2825 East Myrtle Street,Stockton,CA 95205-4794 (209)948-1345 (209)948-0621 fax
