• Kennedy/'Jenks Consultants
Section 1: Introduction
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants (Kennedy/Jenks) has prepared this Soil Characterization Work
Plan (Work Plan) on behalf of Musco Family Olive Company (Musco) to describe the proposed
characterization of soils beneath the existing one million gallon wastewater transfer pond
(1-MG pond) at the Musco olive processing facility located at 17950 Via Nicolo, Tracy, in San
Joaquin County, California. This Work Plan is submitted in partial response to a letter from the
Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region (RWQCB) to Musco dated
4 June 2007 (RWQCB 2007).
This Work Plan describes a proposed soil sampling program that is intended to characterize the
nature and extent of soils affected by the discharge of olive-processing wastewater to the
1-MG pond, compare chemical concentrations in soils beneath the 1-MG pond to background
soil concentrations, and evaluate the potential for residual wastewater constituents in soils
beneath the 1-MG pond to affect surface water or groundwater quality (RWQCB 2007).
" i
Work Plan for Soil Characterization, Page 1
Musco Family Olive Company, Tracy, California
_. ... :aG4rexAs..oPciiaulmrycntl.uwtpinVe:G;doc
