141 <br /> �f <br /> Tank Area Closure Report <br /> Laura scudders Tracy, California Facility <br /> for <br /> Laura Scudders, Inc. <br /> 1.0 Introduction <br /> A On behalf of Laura Scudders, Inc. and their tank removal subcon- <br /> tractor, Precision Industries, Inc. , ROY F. WESTON, INC. (WES- <br /> TON) was asked to review all tank closure information and data <br /> �M< for the Laura Scudders facility located at 100 W. Valpico Road in <br /> Tracy, California (Figure 1) and to summarize the information in <br /> an effort to obtain final closure for the tank removal program. <br /> The intent 6f this report is to provide a concise summary of the. <br /> 4 tank removal efforts to be provided to the local regulatory <br /> agencies so that a determination as to the status of the <br /> facility, in regard to underground storage tanks, can be <br /> assessed. If the regulatory assessment indicates that no <br /> k environmental concerns regarding underground storage tanks exist, <br /> the facility tank closure will be considered complete. <br /> Precision Industries has removed three underground fuel storage <br /> tanks at the Tracy plant (Figure 2) . The first tank (Tank T2) <br /> ` was removed in September 1987. The remaining two tanks (TZ and <br /> T3) were removed in May 198q. For each of these tanks, a <br /> discussion of the tank closure activities and soil <br /> � < sampling chemical analysis results is presented below. All of <br /> the information discussed below has been previously submitted to <br /> ! ! the San Joaquin Local Health District. copies of this previously <br /> submitted data are contained in Appendices A and B for reference. <br /> All chemical analysis data is summarized in tabular form on Table <br /> 1. <br /> 2.0 Background <br /> 2.1 Tank T2 <br /> Tank T2 was a 10,000 gallon diesel storage tank located along the <br /> east side of the main plant building at the Laura Scudders Plant <br /> in Tracy, California. In .'august 1987, after discovering a <br /> possible tank line leak, Laura Scudders contacted Precision <br /> Industries to excavate and remove the tank. On August 18, 1987, <br /> a tank closure application was submitted to the San Joaquin Local <br /> ^ Health Department. The application was approved on August 25, <br /> 1987. <br /> In early September 1987, the tank (T2) (orginally designated tank <br /> 1 by Precision Industries) and associated product lines were <br /> removed. A singl:, soil sample (LS) was collected from beneath <br /> the tank bottom on September - <br /> Environmental Services laboratory for benzene, toluene, xylene <br /> and ethylbenzene (BTX&E) and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) . <br />
