Ground water samples from MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 <br /> were collected and analyzed in accordance with the WDRs for the following parameters: <br /> • Halogenated volatile organic compounds(HVOCs) <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel(TPH-d) <br /> • Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX) <br /> • Methyl-tert butyl ether(MTBE) <br /> • Nitrates as NO3 <br /> • Total Dissolved Solids <br /> • Standard Minerals <br /> • Specific conductivity <br /> • pH <br /> The results of the June 2000 sampling event are presented in the report prepared by Golder, titled <br /> "Second Quarter 2000 Monitoring Report, Owens-Brockway Glass Containers Facility, Tracy, <br /> California," dated August 11, 2000. Historical ground water level data is presented in Table 2. <br /> Historical water quality data associated with the supply well, process water ponds and ground water <br /> monitoring wells is presented in Tables 3 through 7. <br /> 2.0 HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> 2.1 Regional Hydrogeologic Setting <br /> The site is located along the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley adjacent to the northern Diablo <br /> Range of the Coast Range geomorphic province. In the vicinity of the site, the Diablo Range is <br /> characterized by a series of interbedded marine sediments of cretaceous and tertiary age. The beds <br /> strike predominantly to the northwest and dip to the northeast. Alluvium and colluvium fill cover <br /> valleys and ridges in the region. The site is underlain by alluvial material derived from the adjacent <br /> Diablo Range. The Alluvium consists of fine grained sediments derived from the weathering and <br /> erosion of colluvium and bedrock. <br /> The facility is located within the San Joaquin Valley Floor Hydrogeologic Unit No. 543 as depicted on <br /> interagency hydrogeologic maps prepared by the Department of Water Resources in August of 1986 <br /> (RWQCB, 2000). Ground water reported in the Tracy-Dos Palos area has been divided into three <br /> water-bearing zones, the lower section, the upper section and a shallow zone. The lower section is <br /> bounded by consolidated deposits at the bottom of the section and an impermeable confining strata <br /> identified as the Corcoran Clay Member(Nolte, 1994). Two zones are reported to occur overlying the <br /> Corcoran Clay Member(Nolte, 1994). <br /> Regionally, in the vicinity of the site, ground water flow reportedly follows surface topography and <br /> flows towards the north (Nolte 1994). Nolte reported that shallow ground water in the vicinity of the <br /> site is generally not used for drinking or irrigation due to poor quality(Nolte 1994). <br /> Roo-37.doc Golder Associates <br />
