OBSERVATION: The following were observed in the hazardous waste storage area: -Used oil accumulating on the floor next to one 300 gallon used oil tote. Operator placed absorbent pads on ground and stated he will be cleaning up site. REGULATION GUIDANCE:A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately clean accumulating used oil on the floor. Manage the waste according to Title 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department describing the storage and final disposition of the cleaned up waste.
