SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
In addition to the standard recommendations I have made on the
previous pages I would like to offer some thoughts regarding the
design of this building from a Crime Prevention Officer's point
of view.
I have shaded in several areas of the building that I feel are very
vulnerable to attack by a burglar, vandal or vagrant. These areas
are located to the rear of the building so they cannot be seen from
by anyone on Highway 120. The design is such that portions of the
building cannot be viewed from Comconex Road either and since the
area to the north of the building is agricultural there is good
chance that noone will view the building from that direct-16n.
To make certain that unauthorized people do not enter these areas
consider fencing them off. Take care in selecting a fence that cannot
be scaled, some chain link fences are easy to climb. Security plants
along the fence could offer a criminal concealment should he climb
the fence. Consider a wrought iron fence that is hard to climb and
will not provide concealment.
