53 j
WILDWOOD
MANUFACTURING CORPORATION • Furnishings Beyond the Ordinary
P.O. BOX 1268
LODI, CA 95241-1268
(209) 333-8058
September 30, 1986
San Joaquin County Planning Div .
1810 E . Hazelton Ave .
Stockton , CA 95205
Ref : Application for site approval
The proposed use of this site is for temporary storage of grape-
vines only . There are to be no employees at the site except
those who accompany a truck either dumping or loading vines .
All employees work out of Wildwood ' s Lodi factory .
During the period when vines are being taken out of production
( usually right after harvest in September ) , the farmers are
anxious to get their land cleared as fast as possible . In order
to expedite the process , Wildwood hauls the grapevines out
by tractor-trailor and temporarily dumps them at the Pine Street
site . After the rush is over , we haul them away at a more liesure-
ly pace . Our plan is to stack them on pallets and take them
to the factory on a flat-bed truck . Depending on how far we
are hauling in-coming vines , we could bring in as many as 10
loads in a day , for a period of perhaps 6 weeks out of the
year . We will normally have no more than one load going out
in a day .
The process of loading a truck will involve as many as three
people for an hour . A front-end loader may be used to pick
up a ' bucket ' of vines and spread them out . Then they must
be stacked on pallets by hand . Finally , the loader is used
to set the pallets on the flat-bed .
Wildwood is making no modifications to the land . Drainage will
not be affected by Wildwood ' s use , and access will be no more
than if the property were used for purely agricultural purposes.
This use of grapevines reduces air pollution and fire hazard ,
as the alternative is to burn them s they are removed from
P-vduc tion.
Regards , j
Nd'rri`s S .
