Purpose
Pre-permit Inspection
II. Facility Representative
Joe Brandt, Environmental Engineer
III. State Representative
John Papathakis
IV. Description of Facility and Observations
The following is a list of all the hazardous waste locations observed
during the inspection of the facility.
* Building 916-A used for temporary storage of hazardous waste, waste
lubricating oils and batteries; before going to Storage Building 609.
PCB's are occasionally stored here for a short period of time while
laboratory testsare being conducted.
* The construction was complete on storage area 803. This area is ready
to be used for temporary storage (less than 90 days . As built drawings
and a California Engineer's certification of construction have been
submitted for this area. Used lubricating oils and solvents and sand
from a sand blasting operation are stored in this area. The waste will be
transferred to Building 609.
* Construction of temporary storage areas 017 and 020 in Lot 706 were both
nearly complete. Used oils, solvents and paint sludge are temporarily
stored in area 020. PCB liquids and solids are temporarily stored in
area 017. These wastes are generated in Building 707 which is adjacent
to these areas. Eventually the waste will be transferred to Building 609.
* Used oils and solvents are temporarily stored in area 617, adjacent to
Building 617. Weeds are growing next to the storage area and Naval
Communication Station proposes to construct a larger cement area around
this temporary stroage area to avoid problems of waste movement to
Building 609.
