►i ' REPUBLIC
SERVICES
To: San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
From: Mark Phillips
cc: Judith George
Date: July 13, 2018
Re: Union Pacific Lime Contaminated Soil(pH violation)
Upon receiving notification of the non-conforming event, I reviewed the information and
gathered the Special Waste Approvals Group for a meeting on January 29, 2018. The
purpose of the meeting was to discuss the event and provide additional training to ensure
the entire team understood the requirements regarding waste acceptance in: California,
specifically with respect to the characteristic of corrosivity.
In attendance were the employees of the Special Waste Approvals Group: Keith Diamanti,
Joseph Sorokach, Suzanne Glass, Holly Wilson and Lynette Gehring. In the meeting we
reviewed the requirements for waste characterization in accordance with 22 CCR 66261.22
with specific attention to 22 CCR 66261.22(a)(3). As part of our discussion, I explained this
information would be added to the checklist for California to highlight this information going
forward.
Attached with this memo are the documents used for training 22 CCR 66261.22 and the
revised checklist.
Sincerely,
Mark Phillips
Sr. Manager Environmental Management
Republic Services
