NARR.ATXVE
I . IDENTIFICATION OF MAJOR HAZARDOUS WASTE STREAMS
To identify the major hazardous waste streams and the total quantity of
hazardous waste routinely generated at Facility Services, a spreadsheet was
created, included in Appendix B. The spreadsheet includes information from
the hazardous waste manifests for the reporting year 2002.
Some wastes generated by the facility are exempt under SB 14 from the total
waste quantity used in this Evaluation Review and Plan. These wastes are:
• Non-routinely generated wastes
• Motor vehicle fluids and motor vehicle filters
• Lead-acid batteries
• Lighting wastes including ballasts and fluorescent tubes
• Asbestos
• Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
• Demolition waste/renovation waste
In 2002, the facility generated 9,527 pounds of lube oil and used oil. The
amount of lube oil generated was 4,890 pounds. The lube oil became a
retrograde material and was disposed of as a RCRA hazardous waste. The lube
oil is included in the plan. The remaining 4,637 pounds of this waste stream
was generated from vehicle maintenance, which is exempt under SB 14
regulations. The amounts given for both lube oil and used lube oil are to
distinguish the waste stream captured by SB 14 and the waste stream exempt
under SB 14.
A spreadsheet was used to list each individual waste stream by weight. The
weight of each waste stream is subtotaled. The weight of the routinely
generated waste streams (hazardous waste) is totaled. These totals are used
to identify which of the waste streams exceeds 5% of the total hazardous waste
routinely generated at Facility Services for the reporting year 2002. The
quantity of each waste stream is divided by the total quantity of hazardous
Stockton Unified School District NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INC.
Hazardous Waste Source Reduction Plan 10
