MAINTENANCE HAZARD0US WASTE MANUAL <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The California State Legislature developed the Hazardous Waste Control Law to protect <br />the people of the State of California from the long-term threats due to the indiscriminate <br />disposal of hazardous wastes. <br />This law covers the handling, storage, transportation, safe treatment, neutralization and <br />disposal of hazardous waste. This law is contained in Division 20 of the California <br />Health and Safety Code, California Code of Regulations Title 22, and other related State <br />codes. <br />This Manual is not designed to, nor does it establish a legal standard of care. It is <br />published solely for the information, guidance and as a reference document for the <br />Maintenance employees of the Department of Transportation. <br />The Maintenance employee shall perform each operation in the safest and most efficient <br />manner, while maintaining good relations with the public. The employee shall <br />understand the contents of this manual and be familiar with similar manuals issued by <br />other offices or branches of the State Department of Transportation. <br />Notice of errors, omissions and revisions concerning this Manual is requested. <br />Revisions and procedural changes will result in future revisions of the Hazardous Waste <br />Manual.
