the tank. The pump discharges into the tank through a short length of 1" hose. Ball valves for
air supply to the pump and suction line isolation are located near the suction pipe. A 2"
galvanized steel vent line is run outside the building to a point above roof level. It is presumed
that the vent line terminates at a 90 degree elbow although this could not be confirmed to the
height of the roof parapet. The product removal line is a 1 '/2" dip tube in the tank. The product
removal port is capped with a galvanized steel stub.
2.2.4 Description of Any Internal and External Pumps
The external pump is an ARO Ingersoll Rand brand air operated double diaphragm unit with
suction and discharge ball check valves and is UL listed. The model number was not visible at
the time of the assessment. Apex was able to locate basic product information at
httr)://fluids.inaersoIIrand.com/diaphragm/. The pump appears to have been installed per
manufacturer's guidelines and is in good working condition.
2.2.5 Sketch or Drawing of Tank Including Dimensions
A sketch of the AST is provided in Attachment 1 of this report. Photos are provided in
Attachment 2 and manufacturer's documentation is provided in Attachment.
2.2.6 Foundation
The AST is situated indoors on the concrete floor of the grade -level automotive service center.
In the Engineer's opinion, the foundation is adequate to support the load of the full tank.
Because the AST is situated indoors in a heated building, it is not subject to frost heave. The
AST is located in a store at 720 E Hammer Lane, Stockton, California 95210. The Engineer
consulted the California Geological Survey - Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones and verified
the AST is not located within a mapped seismic fault zone; therefore, no anchoring is required.
2.3 Documented Age of the Tank System
The facility had no records documenting the age of the tank system and as of the date of this
report, Apex was unable to identify any documentation of the age of the tank system.
2.4 Description and Evaluation of Any Leak Detection Equipment
There is no alarm or leak detection equipment associated with the John Dow Industries Model
AGS -285 waste oil AST. Detection of product in the secondary containment is by visual
observation through a 1" inspection port or 4" emergency vent at the left side of the tank.
