XX;%: Y <br /> SPECIFIC SPILL GENCY PROCEDURES FOR LF--.KS MPILLS OF <br /> `LATER I ALS <br /> i <br /> i <br /> :1 Upon discovery of a spill or leak in drum storage area, oil; waste tank i <br /> and/or other parts of plant's process and waste handling systems, the <br /> following proceJ:,re will be followed: <br /> I <br /> 1. Emergency Coordinator will be notified giving the following ' <br /> information: <br /> o Time and location of spill i <br /> i <br /> i <br /> o Location of nearest water and drains <br /> o Amount of spill <br /> o Spilled material composition (oil, penta, creosote, ACA, <br /> etc.) <br /> o Spilled material type (liquid, solid, or sludge). <br /> o Existing weather conditions <br /> 2. The Emergency Coordinator will immediately dispatch the Facil- <br /> ity Spill Response Team for cleanup and prevention of further . <br /> spill. <br /> 3. The Facility Spill Response Team will take necessary actions <br /> to contain, clean up, "and properly dispose of the hazardous <br /> waste material. <br /> o Wear protective clothing. <br /> o Contain the spill. For small slow leaks, such as a leak <br /> in the concrete oily waste tank or leaking drum, use <br /> absorbent material. For larger spills,: such as a spilled <br /> drum, provide temporary diking and diversions. <br /> o Stop the spill source . if possible. For leaking piping, <br /> close valves and turn off pumps. Place leaking drums in- <br /> over-pack drums. For oily waste tank leaks, bypass and <br /> transfer wastes to another cell. = <br /> o Clean up the spill. Use absorptive material, shovels, <br /> pumps, and equipment to transfer the spill to drums or <br /> back to a process for recycle. <br /> o Clean up spill equipment. Clean all spill equipment and <br /> protective clothing. Dispose of contaminated protective <br /> clothing. <br /> 4. The Emergency Coordinator will seek assistance from general <br /> office forces, cleanup contractors, and state and Federal agen- <br /> cies if required. <br /> 5. The Emergency Coordinator will notify the Environmentai`Coor- <br /> dinator reporting the situation and obtain additional instruc- <br /> tions. <br /> SFR18/078 /�- <br />
