D
,
LODI FIRE DEPARTMENT FES
CNV/RO
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FFRU11 jSTgt NEgf
ERV ACES Ty
LOCATION: 835 So Stockton St, Lodi DATE: 2-5-88
On this date at approximately 1500 hours, Mr. Ronald Roe of
1525 So. Fairmont Ave. , Lodi CA. (209) 333-7535 contacted me
at Fire Station #1 and wanted to see a list of hazardous
wastes. further questioning on my part indicated to me that
he had a reportable hazardous waste discharge to report. Mr.
Roe gave the following account of his concerns.
Mr. Roe is an employee of the Pacific Coast Producers Can
Division, located at 835 So. Stockton St., Lodi. He stated
that he has been told by his boss to dump the residue from a
machine used in the plant into the California Waste Company
container. He gave me the following list of materials which
mix together and run into a pan under the machine:
I
Great Western Chemical Company
Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (R7156);
Arcosolv PM Acetate (R7064);
Methyl Ethyl Ketone (R7132);
Arcosolv DPM (R7295) .
Desoto Inc. 1
700x378
Korolith End Enamel Clear,
Batch No 4748-7
Contains, Alcohol, Glycol Ether, Petroleum
Distillate Solvents.
Mr. Roe said that he had questioned the practice of dumping
the materials in the manner being used and was told that
there was not enough of the product to classify it as
hazardous waste. He noted that the company does use a
hazardous waste hauler on the "other" side of the plant. He
also stated that the Union was checking into this problem and
that there may be some OSHA violations as to the type of
breathing apparatus being used in the process.
I assured him that I would report the matter to the San
Joaquin County Office of Emergency Service and they would
notify the Health District. I filed a Hazardous Waste
Discharge Report by telephone with the County OES, and am
forwarding a written copy of their form with this
upple ental to them on 2-8-88.
Larry F. Hughes, Fire Chief
