QOdate: 16 February 1987
t®: Permitting Officer, San Joaquin
Irrigation District
from: Gary Runnells, Geologist, Environmental
Science and Engineering, Inc.
subject: Well Permits for the Monitor Well Network at Sharpe
•1 Army Depot, Lathrop, CA
A technical plan for the ground water investigation at Sharpe Army Depot is
on file with the RWQCB in Sacramento. Rick Azevedo (916-361-5672) is the RWQCB
officer for this project. The plan is entitled Remedial Investigation/Feasibility
Study at Sharpe Army Depot, Final Technical Plan A005. Basically, using a
phased approach, between 23-43 ground water monitoring wells will be installed
in "clusters" of 3 wells each. At each cluster, three wells will be installed
at 3 different depths from approximately 30 ft to approximately 140 ft, with
the bottom 10' being screened (see construction diagram) .
Phase I will include installation of the following well clusters: 503,
507, 508, 509, 510, 511, and 518 (diagram on permit application) . The results
of chemical analysis of samples from Phase I wells will be used to determine
the need for additional wells. The purpose of this program is to determine the
extent of TCE contamination in the ground water.
ESEENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
AND ENGINEERING, INC.
