r <br /> 3.0 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> Employee training is an essential tool for informing employees of workplace hazards <br /> and reducing the risk of injury. <br /> In general, employees should be trained and familiar with the tools and equipment <br /> they will be required to use during to the course of operations at this site. Specific <br /> equipment training will be required for employees using the following pieces of <br /> equipment or involved in the following activities: <br /> • Heavy equipment including backhoes, bobcats, cranes, excavators, forklifts, and <br /> loaders <br /> • Respiratory Protection Equipment including half or full face air purifying <br /> respirators or air supplying respirators. <br /> • Powder actuated tools <br /> • Explosive charges <br /> • Confined space entry <br /> Employees and subcontractors working on this site and are exposed to hazardous <br /> substances, health hazards, or safety hazards, are required to successfully complete <br /> initial 40-hour training in accordance with the training requirements outlined in CCR <br /> Title 8 5192 (e). This training regulation also applies to supervisors and management <br /> responsible for the site. Additionally, these employees shall have had 8 hours of <br /> refresher training or the equivalent training received during the course of the <br /> employee's work experience. <br /> All employees shall receive training or instruction that includes at a minimum: <br /> • The names of personnel and alternates responsible for site safety and health; <br /> • The safety, health and other hazards present on the site; <br /> • The use of PPE; <br /> • The work practices by which the employee can minimize risks from hazards; <br /> • The safe use of engineering controls and equipment on the site; <br /> • The medical surveillance requirements including recognition of symptoms and <br /> signs that might indicate overexposure to the hazards; <br /> • The company's decontamination procedures; <br /> • Confined space procedures; <br /> • Spill containment program; and <br /> • The emergency action plan. <br /> Elements of this plan and site-specific hazards shall be discussed in a safety meeting <br /> prior to the commencement of work activities on the site. Additionally, a safety <br /> meeting will be conducted prior to the beginning of each phase of work, when the <br /> scope of work is changed, or when new hazards are discovered on the site. <br /> Documentation of this training will be kept by signing the site copy of this SSHP. <br />
