E
Precision Tank Testing
Precision testing may be required by local
regulations prior to a tank going into service
for the first time. Precision testing may also
be required from time to time over the life of
the tank.
The tank monitor in the HydroGuard m System
can be used as a precision test. It offers several
unique benefits to the tank owner. It tests both
the inner and outer tank wall. The Containment
Solutions hydrostatic tank monitor has been
independently tested and statistically validated
to meet EPA and the National Fire Protection
Association's criteria as a precision tank test.
Transport or handling damage is
instantly identifiable by a green -dyed,
annular space brine solution.
r i i
Detection Capability
The HydroGuardTm System monitor provides
continuous leak detection capability. The cavity
between the inner and outer tank walls is filled
with a brine solution. Hydrostatic pressure is
continuously applied to both the primary and
secondary tank. This provides the capability
of detecting leaks in either the primary or
secondary tank walls in all installed conditions.
The monitor can also serve as a precision test
of both the inner and outer tank walls.
6
Continuous Leak Monitoring During the
Tank's Operational Life
After installation, the HydroGuard'MSystem monitor stands guard each second
of the tank's life.
Concrete
Traffic Pad
Reservoir
Liquid Levi
Sensor
Stable Res
Liquid Levi
Stored Prot
Reservi
Inner ih
Breach
Resery
Ground
Level
Outer 1
Breach
Groun
Level
Reser,
Overt!
Outer
Breacl
NORMAL
CONDITIONS
The reservoir liquid
level will be stable if
both the inner and outer
tank are tight.
The reservoir sensor
will activate an alarm if
the reservoir drains or
overfills.
INNER WALL
BREACH
Monitor fluid drains
into the primary tank
causing the reservoir to
drain. No petroleum
product escapes from
the primary tank to
pollute the site.
OUTER WALL
BREACH
If the groundwater is
below the tank top, the
monitor fluid drains
into the ground causing
the reservoir to drain.
HIGH
GROUNDWATER
If the groundwater is
over the tank top, the
reservoir will overfill
with groundwater and
activate the high level
alarm on the reservoir
sensor.
